discovery+ subscribers can now create age-appropriate viewing experiences for their families by creating Family Profiles, also known as parental controls.
When you create a Family Profile, you'll be able to choose a suitable content rating for your family. Only content with that rating and below will be available to stream.
You'll also be able to create a PIN to prevent your child or their younger family members from accessing the profile without parental supervision, or from accessing other profiles with higher content rating settings.
How To Create A Family Profile:
- Go to “Manage Profiles”
- Select “Add Profile”
- Enter the profile name and select a profile picture
- Turn on the “Family Profile” toggle
- Select “Change Rating,” then select the rating level desired
- Select “Save”

To change the rating on a Family Profile: make sure you’re on a standard profile, then follow these steps:
- Go to “Manage Profiles”
- Click on the Family Profile you’d like to update ratings on
- Select “Change Rating,” then select the rating level desired
- Select “Save”
Please note: When turning on a Family Profile, you’ll notice that you can only choose content ratings up to TV-PG.
At this time, you can make changes to your profile content setting only through the discovery+ website, not on your connected TV or mobile device.
Once a Family Profile has been created and secured with an optional PIN, the content setting cannot be altered unless it is done by the PIN holder with a standard profile.
